Wilmslow Show

Sticky Toffee pudding

We had a great time at the Wilmslow Show on Sunday. Wilmslow school was a great venue and we enjoyed seeing happy faces after tasting our sticky toffee pudding. The sticky toffee puddings went down a treat and chocolate brownies didn’t have time to melt before they were eaten! Can’t wait for the Wilmslow show next year!

P.s. Catch us at Oswaltwistle on the 20th July, this Saturday and Whalley market on the 21st.

What can I bake?

WP_20130406_016

Since I was a little boy I have always been fascinated with baking. Some of my fondest memories as a child stem from the wonders that can be made from the simplest of ingredients. I have always been involved in the kitchen whether it’s helping out with dinner or just baking with my Mum or Dad. One memory which has stuck with me is when I had to give a two-minute talk in my fifth year of primary school. I had no idea what I was going to talk about and then suddenly the thought of baking a chocolate cake for the class came to me, needless to say my classmates where all thrilled with being able to eat cake in class. My first success in baking!

When it came to year 8 and food technology I had decided to bake some choux buns for my assignment. This can be quite a difficult skill but a few hours and several mishaps later I had begun to get the hang of it. The assignment was done at home under the supervision of my Mum (she had to watch over me using the cooker to make sure the house didn’t catch fire), but when I took it in to be marked, my teacher didn’t believe I had done it all by myself and I had to get my mother in to vouch for me. My teacher was astounded that I could create something like that.

As you can see I have been baking for a while and have picked up a lot of skills and experience, I by no means claim to be able to bake anything but I will always give it a go just to see how it turns out. That’s what happened recently when I was baking sticky toffee pudding, I just gave it a go. As it turns out I think I have created something particularly amazing (even if I do say so myself). Experimentation in the kitchen, especially in baking, can lead to fantastic results.

Other things that I can do are bakewell tarts. These aren’t just traditional ones, there are cherry, pear, raspberry and strawberry. Cupcakes are a favourite which range from Chocolate chip, Dark and white chocolate, Cherry, Lemon, Raspberry, Blueberry the list is endless! There is Parkin as well to add to the list of culinary delights on offer. I am also in the process of perfecting Brownies and other puddings such as Spotted Dick and Jam Roly Poly. Most of the recipes I use have been perfected by my Dad and passed on to me and has inspired me to create my business. It’s nice that his recipes can now be enjoyed by everyone else too.

If there is anything anyone would like me to have a go at baking please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will also answer any questions that you may have about baking such as techniques and simple recipes.
